Shirley MacLaine and Christopher Plummer, Oscar winners both, will soon be bringing a little old-Hollywood glamor to New Orleans, as they head to town to work on the romantic comedy "Elsa & Fred." Directed by Michael Radford -- who also wrote the script, based on a 2005 Spanish-language film -- it is scheduled to shoot Dec. 3 to Jan. 17.
The film tells the story of an aging couple who meet each other late in life, and who -- according to the film's IMDB.com entry -- "discover that it's never too late to love and make dreams come true." MacLaine will play Elsa, a Fellini-obsessed whirlwind who injects a newfound energy into Fred's life. Plummer will play Fred, who decides it's up to him to make Elsa's lifelong dream come true.
"Elsa & Fred" is being produced by Matthia Whrenberg, Ricardo Kleinbaum, Jose Levy, Edward Saxon and Nicolas Veinberg for Defiant Pictures. It is one of the newest entries on the latest state-issued accounting of in-state film and TV production activity.
